Does Japan use numbers like we do?

Thank you for your awesome lessons. Id like to ask if they use numbers in japan as we do or if they write it in symbols ( i forgot name 😡 ).

Usually you write numbers in regular arabic numerals i.e. 123456 etc.

Sometimes you do see kanji numbers e.g. 一 二 三 四 etc.  but this is usually in things like menus on the walls in traditional restaurants etc.

So you should be fine with regular numbers.

(The reason Japan uses arabic numerals is the same reason we don’t use roman numerals anymore,  there was originally no “zero”  in kanji counting so it makes maths so much harder!)

P.S. Ninja Tip:  There’s a great Japanese numbers poster in my Learn Japanese Pack!
