Kaisho, Mincho or Maru-moji – which kana to learn?

Q: I’ve read that there are different hiragana and katakana writing styles: Kaisho, Mincho and Maru-moji. Do I need to learn all three of them? Thanks in advance -Liam
A: Hi Liam. Once you get really into calligraphy there are indeed different ways of writing the kana, my office manager actually has a “black belt” in it!
But for general use Kaisho, Mincho, Maru-moji, etc. are just fonts you’ll see on your computer. You’ll need to be able to read them all, which is dead easy, but for writing, just stick to the ones used inhiragana/katakana workbooks (e.g. mine are here) and you’ll be 100% fine!
